Keep in mind the VX head was built for fuel economy, not top end power. A z6 or d15b jdm head would be a better base for performance, although not sure how the compression would measure out. Also D15b7 blocks have thin rods, not the best bottom end for performance.
What you posted would be a great MPG beast though with the right ecu and a long geared tranny.
A y8 head will give you higher compression and vtec, not vtec-e like the vx. But only something like ~11.5 CR on a B7 block, depending on the head gasket. Research piston options, there's some OEM pistons that will bump up your CR in D series motors. The GX pistons and there's another one to that I can't think of now.
