#77651 yes its definetly bouncy i will have to check my vacuum lines. I have the water line hooked up i bought the turbo used. The only thing i think is that maybe one of the oil seals in the turbo is bad but i got no clue. But i bought the turbo under the impression that it was rebuilt considering that what he told me and there was no shaft play on the turbo what so ever.

#78415 What are you using for engine managment?

Mine does they bouncy idle, but that is because i downloaded a base map from a website and buned it to a chip, well whoever made the base map played with the IAC controls, so at idle it surges. If you had access to a computer and know what you are doing, you could down load chrome (free) and fix the idle.

Did you use an oil restrictor on the feed line to the turbo?

If not it may be pushing too much oil through there, and pushing it passed the oil seals in the turbo right into the exhaust where it will burn and create tons of smoke. Also, using an oil such as Valvoline vr1 20W50 will cut down on smoke. Thicker oil makes it harder to push past the oil seals.

#78613 yeah so i have gone through alot to find out what the problem was. i swapped out the turbo and it was still doing it so i pulled my motor and found out the pistons seals in cylinders 1 and 3. So i have the motor out i just have to wait until i get the money to buy a new motor but i want to keep it real simple besides getting a replacement d16z6 is there any other motor that will bolt right in and plug and play so i can keep this simple i just want it to get me through the winter and then im going to do a b series next spring.

#78683 any obd1 d series will be a direct swap. a b-series isn't really any more work. if you want to save some money, i rebuilt my d15 last summer for under $100. just bought NPR piston ring set, acl bearing kit, new head gasket, a cylinder hone tool, misc. gaskets, and some feeler gauge. just buy like a chilton manual for your car and follow what it says in the engine over haul section. You'll learn alot by doing it your self, and to me, doing it your self is the best way to learn. if you make a mistake, you learn from that mistake. good luck with the car.
