#74305 I posted this in the wrong forum before, lemmie try again.
So... if anyone can believe this, I have a 92 civic ex sedan which was stolen (shocking I know)... twice in October. This brings the count to four steals, and 30 breakins. Whatever. The last time, the guy hit a truck bumper or something, and bent the radiator support, damaged the condenser (I think, haven't pulled it to really check) and some cosmetic damage to the radiator. It also smashed the power steering reservoir, and the car drives great with no power steering. The frame has no damage, but seeing as I've never done anything this intensive, how hard is it to replace the radiator support. Some websites I go to say to knock out the TAC welds and bolt a new one on, others say weld a new one in there. I don't know what to do, but I do have most of the new parts required to rebuild the front. What will I need to do to get the power steering working again (Will replacing the bottle make things all good, or will the absence of fluid fry the pump), and what do you suggest I do about the support. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not in the position to spend 1800 to have someone do work I think I can do myself.

#74306 I didn't answer your other one because I've personally never replaced a radiator support, but from everything I've read you'll need to drill out the old welds and weld the new one on.

If you took the belt off your PS pump, then not having any fluid in it should be okay. If it was running w/o fluid then I'd say it is done.

If you know someone w/ a MIG then I'd try it yourself. Just see if the frame is true before you do all the work. :thumb:

#74327 Thanks so much for the quick reply. What is the procedure to putting a new pump on. Also is there any area to post files, I have the complete 1300 page Honda Factory Shop Manual for the 92-95, crisp quality in a PDF if anyone would be interested.

#74335 new pump is just loosening the tensioner & belt, unbolting the old one, take the 2 bolts off the top where the fluid line connects and putting the new pump in, tightening the belt & hooking the hoses back up and topping off the fluid.

I made it sound easier than it is, but there's no special procedure to it.

#74341 You'll have to remove the old welds and then weld the new parts in to make sure strength is not an issue.

Also post that PDF if you can, I'd be interested.

All the best
