#41772 so this is my problem.....as some of you know its tax season and i will be receving my tax return within a few weeks. with that money im looking to take out my single cam motor and throw in a B-Series swap. Now heres where the problem starts.
Alocal guy has a Complete OBD-1 gsr swap for 2000. i want to get it but the problem is i have problems trusting ppl with buying motors off them like that. Im scared its gonna fuck up/not start or its been really abused and not taking care of. and plus the seller doesnt know much about it himself and he doesnt have paperwork.
On the other hand i can get a JDM B16 swap off hmotors for a little more then the gsr swap. I know it doesnt have as much power as the gsr but i know it will work and i would also have a warrenty for it. Another thing is that i know for a fact that the b16 would most likley be in better condition and have less miles. I would also have the paper work for it if cops were to pull me over and question me about the motor.
Honestly im leaning more into getting a b16 because its the safe way to go. Another thing is that im not trying to make my car crazy fast im just want it to have some power so it can get out of its own way.I mean if i want more power i Can always throw some CTR or ITR cams and some other performance parts to get a little more power out of it. But i just want to see what everyone else would do. would you pick performance over reliability?

#41773 I'd go for the B16, as you said, you could always drop in CTR/ITR cam's, do i/h/e, the works :)

You kinda already gave the answer yourself ;)

#41788 I think the peace of mind is worth the extra money for a smaller motor. :thumb:

#41793 mike quick question.....if i do buy the b16 and decide to get some parts to get some more power out of it would some ITR/CTR cams,ITR intake manifold and a Hytech Header do good for a b16? i know you know all the answers to all motor stuff :thumb:

#41794 Um hell yeah!!

Get the B16, you can always change stuff later. Here's what I'd do....

I'd eventually sell the B16 head complete and put the money towards a complete ITR head, that way you get the mild port job, cams, and valvetrain. Hytech headers are baller, but other options to consider are DTR/SSR, or SMSP, all those would definately make power!! Dont forget about engine management.....Hondata would be fine.

x2 I totally agree. You dont know what that GSR has been through and it probably has a lot more miles on it than a motor from Hmotors.

that actually sounds like a good idea, ill take that into consideration maybe i can do that somewhere down the line.
One more thing, Does it matter if its the Hytech replica headers? i herd they are almost the same thing and almost produce the same power.

I like the real Hytech's, but the replica does make power!! Get what fits your budget. :thumb:
