#32056 I am very new to this civic thing. lol. I know i could search and i have been searching but i was wondering what would be the most easy and cheapest way for a swap. I am into drag racing it I know run 17.6 i would like to be somewhere into the 13's. I have a 1992 HB with a d15b7 that has a horrible knock. Should I either build my d15 or buy another motor and swap it out. Thanks.

#32057 What's your budget? Do you want N/A, Turbo, or Nitrous?
whatever you do, don't waste time building your D15b7 for 13's. If it's ready to go, then what better time to swap in something DOHC :thumb:
Or SOHC turbo is another option, but I'd use a D16 as a base for that route.

#32122 i would like to stick with D because i know these cars came with a d16z6 in them. Turbo is probably a distant possibility but n/a for now. what about nitrous i was thinking a zex 75 shot with the d16 and a cam. Where do I shop for stuff for the d series and where could i find prices on turbo kits.

#32124 also about b-series where could i find one. what should i look for for problems, will it swap right in and how much are they compared to d16z6.

#32169 small budget and 13's N/A D series :? . My opinion is if you have a small budget save up to buy a decent engine, don't build cheap it'll be more expensive on the long run, less reliability. 13's is very duable but with $$$ and some help, but luckily honda engines have a good market of performace parts that others don't. Search, search, and search some more and decide what you really want. A b series engine has more potential to reach the 13's N/A i think with less money than a D series.

-Much more simple if your engine is knocking and the hatch is your daily just buy a d16z6 and save up to buy/build your new engine.
Good luck man :thumb:

#32175 D series and N/A don't really go together. It can be done, but you'll end up spending alot more in the log run than you think. You'll also be running a high compression motor to get good #'s which means higher octane gas.

If you're gonna build a boosted D for 13's, then that is very possible. I'd use a D16z6 and a mid size turbo. I don't really know much about nitrous setups, but that would be your best bang for the buck I'd think.

#32177 if you want somthing cheap and you wanna go DOHC go with a LS swap. it will cost less then 1k and give you a good amount of power and lots of torque. i had a ls swap that i picked up for $600 and threw it in my hatch. I was pretty happy with it. the only thing is that you wont run 13s more likly in the 14s. Im sure if u put some more money into it you can get it in the 13s :thumb:

#32181 That's exactly what I'm trying to say, he wants to stick to a D series, dont want to use turbo but is thinking about using 75 shot of zex and has a small budget.

D on 13's very possible but with big budget, not pocket change  is a lot easier to build a dohc and more close to his goal.
