#206703 So I went to my boys shop to get my obd2 converted into a obd1 with p28 chiped and tuned for cheap...

And I must say the b16a2 is running a whole lot better... I. Even have a twostep and a check engine shift light...

Has anyone used crome tuning b4 or ever done a obd2 to a obd1 conversion???

#206710 yes and yes.
the creators of crome have their own forum, pgmfi.org.

#206725 tuners I talk to say that come is a piece of shit and they hate it. But hey it's free.

I wouldn't trust it to be the ecu on an engine setup worth thousands of dollars and a ton of time that I put in.

#206775 works fine for me.
people often complain about it but never say specifically what is wrong with it. usually after they have spent a ton of money on hondadata

crome is simply a ROM editor, designed specifically to edit the ROMs that can be used to chip ecu's.

back in the day, i use to write/edit programs that ran on the same ROMs.
i used a pc that ran dos and a hex editor. (assembly language)

interestingly, the same technology that honda obd1 ecus use can also be found in the old arcade video games such as pac man, galaga, defender, centipede, street fighter, etc

a tool is just a tool, and some are better than others.
but in the right hands, a lot can be accomplished.

#206808 The first guy tuning my car wouldn't even touch the P28 I had chipped w/ Crome.
The tuner who was working on my car most recently, purchased Crome Pro back in the day and only got the data logging to work only one time ever. Also every time he edited the map, the ignition had to be turned off and back on. Sometimes it would randomly delete the whole thing.
Just fidgety software overall.

I use Hondata S300 which is $500 now, but you get great software for that price. It's more reliable & friendly. With those 2 benefits, you'll save $ by spending less time tuning on a dyno.
Crome was bigger back in the day but there's a lot more options out there now. Best thing is to use software your tuner is comfortable/familiar with.

If you've already got Crome and you want to mess around with it doing street tunes or if you have access to some free/cheap dyno time, give it a try.

But as I always say on here, The ecu is the last place you want to cheap out on a build. Do you really want the brain of your whole setup to be free older software controlling the engine you have sunk a couple-few thousand dollars into?

#206826 ultimatly, its pretty much the tuner's choice what you tune with.

i haven't tried making changes 'on the fly' but for editing bins, crome has given me no problems.
tunerTee simplifies the logging process.
