- Tue Jan 12, 2010 2:29 am #167707 ok let's start things off i have a 95 civic ex with a hornet alarm with remote start i bought it like that anyways my problem is my dash tail and plate lights dont work when the car is on but when i use the remote start they work but then turn off anybody had this problem thanks

- Thu Jan 14, 2010 2:49 am #168308 thats going to be something dumb im sure try tracing some of the wires from the kit and see if its getting into something else i had a problem where my car wasnt starting or cranking because the amp wire was getting touched by my jack in the trunk.. dumb wires

can you take it back to the installer?

- Thu Jan 14, 2010 4:12 am #168324 Check your under dash fuse box for any blown fuses. tail lights and dash lights share the same fuse I believe.

does the car have an aftermarket radio? if so, pull it out and see if there's any wires on the back that are not used and left un-taped on the ends.

Some people leave the illumination wire bare on the tip and it can short on the chassis.

If it works when powered by the remote start then its not getting a signal. wire could be accidently cut where the remote start connection is made on the switch side or more likly just a blown fuse. If there was a short behind the radio it would probably short out the remote starter as well unless it is an intermittent short.
