LS/VTEC's are not cheap to build properly. If you just throw a B16 head on a LS Block, you will have an LSVtec for about 3-6months until you have to Build a new bottom end. Even Then a LS With a B16 tranny will smoke a LSvtec with a LS Tranny. It will also be much more reliable.
I would Recommend a D16z6 swap with the D16z6(EX/Si) Tranny. It will give you all the power you need to daily drive around with. And in a Light weight CX and a little bit of Nitrous you will be taking people all day and night.
If you are afraid of nitrous and quite a few people are because of its misinformation then you can also go with a Turbo Setup. However A Turbo setup will wear out your engine much faster then a Nitrous setup as it will be making more power all the time, not just when you want to race. Much more money will be put into making a Turbo setup relaible.
My old Nitrous D16z6 beat H and K swapped EG's. I speak from experience. A Stock D16z6 w/ Intake, Headers and Exhaust(I/H/E), will be faster then a straight B18a/b(LS) swap. A B20 Swap with LS Transmission is just as slow. It will also loose to a d16z6 with i/h/e
If you are going to get a B Series swap, Getting a B18(LS) matched to a B16 Transmission will be quite fast. If you want VTEC(who doesn't) Going with a B16 or B18C(GSR) is the easiest way.Again You can make a B18a/b into an LS/Vtec, However doing so properly will cost more money then a Straight B16 swap.
IMO Going with a D16z6 will be your best bang for buck. Swaps normally got around 600-800 here. a Wet nitrous kit can be had for $300. Learn how to tune if yourself(Walk trough's in our Nitrous thread) You will be able to hang with B, H, and K Swapped Civics for between 900-1200 Bucks. If you do a stealth install(hide lines with wire loom, Hide solenoids) Then you will blow peoples minds that you just blew them out of the water in a D16z6. You also wont have a front mount intercooler attracting attention from thief's.
