#105026 Alright here's the scenario. I drive my car from San Jose to Oakland (About 50 miles) to watch the Warriors game. By the time I approached the parking lot, the parking ticket person said, "Do you know theres smoke coming out of your car?". Once I park I open the hood and notice my radiator cap was off and off resting on the side, because I forgot to put it back in. Yeah I know, stupid mistake. No hoses ruptured, the cool in the radiator was about 4/5 full, other then some slattered coolant everything was fine. I turn on the car back on and let the extra coolant tank slowly fill the radiator back to full.

Anyways after I figured everything was fine, considering oakland I put these two wires from the main relay together. What I originally wanted to do was to connect those wires to a killswitch because those two wires together caused the car to stop working. The wires from the main relay was from terminals 5 and 8. All they were was two wires hanging from the relay not connected to anything due to the previous owner. The car worked fine with those two dangling wires not connected.

After I get my car towed home, I checked all the fuses, Checked the distributor to see if all cylinders sparked, and they did. I also replaced my main relay, but the car still doesn't start. I can hear the fuel pump humming. Please help! I can't figure out the problem. :x

#105029 my guess is its a wiring problem if all you can hear is the pump does the start motor not even try to connect ?

sounds the same as mine so try earthing wires.

#105035 All my engine is doing is cranking. It sounds as if those two terminals are connected, but they are not.

What do you mean earthing wires?

#105049 The grounding wires. One on starter, valve cover, and transmission I think.

#105063 Alright, I figured out the problem. I thought I heard the fuel pump hum, but I was mistaken. When I turn my car on the fuel pump doesn't work. I connected the battery straight to the fuel pump and it works.

I checked all my fuses 4 times already and they are all fine. What else should I do?

#108326 So basically by connecting those wires, the wire from the main relay to fuel pump was burnt. No wonder no fuses were blown.

Sad thing is, it came back with 2 bumps on the hood, sunroof stopped working, and a missing side skirt. They told me it wasn't their fault. Fucking assholes. :x

#117507 Damn man, that sucks. That's the kinda shop you visit during the night, ya know?

On the other hand, at least she's running again. I hate electrical problems.

#117515 aight. i dont know if i can be of any help or not but i will try. i had the same thing happen to me when i first got my car. i moved it from one side of the street to the other to install fog lights. did the install then tried to take it for a drive and it wouldn't start. had power, turned over, but wouldnt start. Shit mistifyed me for weeks and drove me to cut off all my hair so i would stop pullin it out. I gave up knowin it had to be stupid shit and took it to a shop. $300 somethin later i get it back. the problem : my computer wasn't grounded and a few fuses were blown out, and a few fuses under the hood on the side by my headlights werent grounded. So my advice would be to check ALL your grounds. :thumb:
