hey guys, im getting a eg in a couple weeks and its going to be my first car. its a 92 dx black eg. anyone know if there what i should look for when i go pick it up and any known problems with that year and model?
Just make sure the engine isn't smoking or getting too hot. Check the oil & coolant. if those are clean then that's a good sign the car was well maintained. Same for the tranny fluid if it is automatic.
Drive it and listen for clunks that could be ball joints, tie rod ends or wheel bearings. Check to see the CV boots aren't torn, do a tight full turn in each direction while driving and make sure they aren't clicking (cv joints)
Drive straight and be sure the car doesn't pull L or R.
Check the tires for uneven wear, may need alignment or may have hit a curb good. Look for 'wrinkles' around the shock tower where the strut mounts, they can be from hard impact.
Check all the lights, wiring for these can be sketchy in some cars that have been modified. And of course the infamous rear quarter rust... if there is none, check for bondo or fiberglass.
just curious..
what kind of condition is it in and how much are you picking it up for?
