#99683 I recently upgraded to a obd2 setup and have no need for my p28. I listed it on craigslist ($130)and got a ton of emails the same day.I've been looking around on the forum to try and figure out why it was so desirable despite the obvious that it is vtec.Whats the deal with the p28?Can anyone recommend a good guide or book?

#99914 OBD1 is a million times better than OBD2 because the maps can easily be edited for performance, economy or whatever.
OBD2 ecus require a 'piggy back' module that 'tricks' the ecu into thinking every thing is 'normal' while adjusting the fuel and ignition behind the ecu's back.

p28's control vtec, and are easily chipped
p06's can easily be converted to p28's as most have the same circuit board

#99985 Ok what would I need to do to convert my car back to obd1? I've seen the harness adapters for my harness to a obd1 computer. But wouldn't I need to swap out injectors and all that good stuff.

#100152 it depends what was converted in the first place.

#100514 uh... what motor?
if you have a y8 i would just leave it obd2.
and sell it...

#101468 Why on earth would you want to convert back?!! If you have an OBD2 engine, then an OBD2 conversion is ideal. The OBD1 maps are very very different and I have yet to see or hear of any competent tuner for OBD2 D series engines.

It would make no sense. You have the correct ECU, but you want to put the wrong one in and then get it "fixed" to be able to run your engine correctly.

Buy yourself a cheap OBD2 scanner and enjoy the diagnostic capability. It will always tell you exactly what's wrong.

you might get a cel but it will run ok
if you want to convert it from auto to manual is very easy.
remove R17 and jumper R18.
