- Sun Sep 07, 2008 3:08 am #68644 What up guys? i was surfin the net to see how to replace the head gasket and found this site.at first i thought it might be something like a rocket scientist. but it was a piece of cake and really helpful with all the pictures and details so i decided to sign up. might learn something new! i have 2 kind of whip. one is a honda civic 96 sedan with a d16z6 engine and another is a chevy caprice 94 with 26" rims LT1 engine. this civic is my daily im lookin to improve the performance and add turbo up to 12 psi. going to be changin the rod and piston and keep my engine in top shape!

- Mon Sep 08, 2008 3:17 am #68775 the civic? nah not yet. still working on it. today im getting a whole lot of stuff for free. an obd1 distributor , ex intake manifold, and a new vtec solenoid. when i bought the car the only thing that was obd1 was the engine. i have a EK. so the intake manifold was obd2 that short shit.. with an obd2 distributor and the vtec broken, p2p and a obd2 harness. got alot of work to do to make it right for turbo. my plan was to get at least 12 psi on this engine but i realize since i got an automatic the shiftin might not be quick enough and i could destonate my motor. so im going to back down to 7 psi.

- Mon Sep 08, 2008 3:36 am #68778 Im not sure what fast shifting has to do with how much boost you run, but the auto tranny wont hold much power at all. You might want to conisder doing a auto-manual swap.

- Mon Sep 08, 2008 1:10 pm #68821 automatic. when im holding the gas pedal when it's time to shift it might not respond quickly and that turbo is gonna force it QUICK into the redline.

nah i dont wanna do a auto-manual swap. i did it for a honda accord 93 and it was just too much work i dont have any friends or family that was willin to give me a hand. once i get this civic running good by today im going to see if i can get a nice trade with a honda civic 00 shell with some b series stuff so all i would need is the motor.


btw i bought a full head gasket kit which came with almost every gasket that goes to the engine. gonna take some picture maybe the admin would make it a sticky!
