I noticed today that when at a stand still, with the heater on, whether the car is warm or cold it seems to bounce every 20 seconds or so from 200-300 rpm up to 1000rpm, then 20 seconds later will drop back down.

This only happens when the heater is on as per the subject, turn the heater off and it goes back to normal.

Does this sound weird?

- Sat Aug 23, 2008 7:44 am #67099 yeah.... i wana say its normal... when i turn on my head lights... or heater... or my radiator fan kicks in... my idle drops around 200-300 also. Some one said to me that my alternator might be going out..... but iono

- Sat Aug 23, 2008 2:01 pm #67104 yeah, it's completely normal. Since our engines are so small, the alternator load really affects them.

Tonight it wasnt doing it until i tried to wind up and down both the windows at the same time and it dropped/rose a little bit.

Oh well!
