- Thu Jul 24, 2008 3:53 pm #63222 Hey guys, i just cleaned out my throttle body and for some reason my engine is idling higher than it should. My CX doesn't have a tach so i don't know how much higher.... I'm guessing 300rpm. The rpms slowly jump up and down and the exhaust pops a little. Its eating up my gas and its a little bit too loud at stoplights. It seems to idle lower when rolling in gear. Is there anyway i can adjust my idle??? Or did i do something wrong when i put the trottle body back on. Thanks guys!

- Thu Jul 24, 2008 4:51 pm #63231 On the front of your throttle body is an idle adjustment screw. In cleaning the throttle body did you happen to turn it or did you take every thing apart?

Try getting a flat head and turning it. And or check your IAC. If the idle is going up and down your IAC could be clogged with carbon. Just take a quick minute and check over a few things. Also look at the vacuum lines make sure they are all in place and in the correct spots.

not neccesarily, that filter is a part of your PCV system. Its open to atmosphere from the factory anyway. The only difference is that there is usually a tube coming from the valve cover to your intake. Its just made for oil pullover or "blow by". That wouldnt cause the irratic idle your speaking of and or the high idle situation.

My next guess would be a damaged or incorrectly placed vacuum hose.

Don't turn that adjustment screw w/out jumpering the ECU and then resetting it afterward.

im having the same problem except with my problem, my gas tank is moisting up so the gas has abit of water in it causing the lack of explosion

Did you clean the throttle body and intake manifold mounting surfaces and replace the gasket? If not, then you most likely have a vacuum leak.

My next guess would be a damaged or incorrectly placed vacuum hose.

Don't turn that adjustment screw w/out jumpering the ECU and then resetting it afterward.

Its the ECU fuse in your engine bay fuse bax. I believe its a Blue 15AMP fuse. Pull it out for a sec and put it back in. Your problem is more than likely cause from the moisture in your tank. Thats a whole nother problem. For you, you could run some Dry Gas through the system and it will help the situation. Then and or before that you need to find out what is causing the moisture.

sweet thanks..someone told me to drop a cap full of meth in the gas tank and it shud do..is meth going to suff my car up in anyway??

You're correct that one of the ECU fuses is a 15A but the ECU memory fuse (also shared with the radio memory) is a 7.5A under the hood. Leave it out for a good 15 seconds.

Excessive moisture in the gas tank will mess up your fuel filter.
