#41909 I am about to do B20vtec and i have a B16 header on my car...i was wondering if it would fit?? Some people say that the B16 header is shorter and will not clear the oil pan, while others say all B series are the same and it should fit. I searched the forum and couldnt find any answers. so if i can get some for sure help it would be greatly appreciated so i know whether i have to buy a new header or not.

#41925 if just using to for a temp use an LS header it'll clear the pan if you plan on buying one get a Hytech header

#41930 I just need one that will get me running koo for now, im only gonna have around $100 to spend on a header, unless sumone would trade a B16 header for a LS header.

stock LS should be really cheap as in like 20-30 bucks

but to spend the big bucks heres a few links of SMS products
http://sms-products.com/Headers.html

and Hytech

http://www.hytechexhaust.com/

keep in mind these are expensive but they are worth every dollar! if you go all motor

How the hell is aluminum piping and flanges worth more than a 1000 dollars? I've seen amazing numbers on fully built ITB'd B series w/ just an ITR header like mine. Unless all you do is drag for a living, why would anyone spend that much?

Cuz they are hand made, not mass produced. Buy a real header, and you'll get real numbers.

SMSP, Hytech, or DTR/SSR would absolutely crush the numbers out of an ITR header. Take it from me......I know 1st hand. The header is one of the most important pieces in an all motor build.

#41961 I understand how NA builds work. I am not a noobie and I am always going to choose NA over boost but that is, no matter how you argue, too much money for the numbers an NA build done by 99% of tuners will get.

So many random people have bolted turbo's to stock motors and produced the numbers most NA builders have tuned all day for. I'd like to see a dyno sheet that can fully justify 1 grand spent on a header.

Yeah, so they have built headers that flow better than most. Not a smart purchase for most people who will never build a motor or track car that requires such a header. JMO

Anyway, how did a 1000 dollar header get suggested in a thread asking about a cheap OEM header to clear a B20 block and pan?

#41962 ask outkast jon if he still has his stock stuff. I think he might. I'll ask LowTEC Mike or LowTEC Tommy to see if he has his LS header left laying around.

Nobody ever said you were a noobie, I know I dont think of you that way. When it comes down to it, you've got one of the most well rounded hatches on the site. When people like you and me have chosen all motor as opposed to forced induction, we've already got the odds stacked against us when it comes to making power and going fast. We have to work 10x harder to achieve our goals.

All I'm saying is you dont have to be a hard core drag racer, or road racer, to get the most out of your motor, and my question to you is why not get the most out of your motor at all times??? Thats where you and me are different, I dont mind spending large amounts of money if I know there's more horsepower left to be pulled out of the engine.

#41977 Well thanks for the advise guy's but yeah Derek let me know if they got em....i will have around $120 to spend if i can find sumthin like a DC Race header or so, just sumthin that will let better airflow then stock but still be cheap :hehe:

I am totally for getting all you can out of your motor and only your motor but it can be done for much cheaper is all I was trying to say. I hope that you all know that I am not one to cheap out on anything but I am also realistic on spending too. I guess I am getting old..... :?

On identical motors w/ the only difference being say, a 5 bills and some change AN-R header and a 1000 and some change SMS header, the gains will not totally dominate in any race class and for a half a G I think that it should. Like I said, maybe I'm getting old and a little cheap.
