CX FTW Si's over rated! lol

not when you go from a car with a manual 5spd, cruise control and power moonroof, to one with none of the above

i had both lol a red CX a white Si a greyish purple LX-A haha i havent owned a coupe yet but i got a 2dr teg its about the same right? lol

I have a VX with a JDM D15B swap.

I pwn. True story.

Way less money in doing what I did than buying an Si.

Plus, D15B makes 10 more hp!!

total BS. that motor doesnt make 10hp more anything.

Its rated the exact same. The Sis also already get all wheel discs, power moonroof and mirrors. body colored door handles and mirrors....

As far as milage, I was getting 300-350 from a tank.

300-350 miles? is that anygood? thats 482-526 KM's so that not that bad.

- Tue Feb 05, 2008 5:57 am #40933 IMHO I wouldnt base what you get off any single thing...so hearing everyone say SI > all...pssh...Dont base it off what engine your getting with it or the weight of the car, or whether or not your getting power everything etc...because when it all comes down to it your getting basically the same exact chasis...sunroof and power windows are just optional things ya know? Your not happy with the engine that comes with, shit swap it out...your a bit upset that your choice weighs 70 extra pounds, bah...gut it...the honda civic is the most customizable car in the world imo...do anything you want to it...but for luxory and a good car to start out with...definitely go DX or SI...other than that...the rest is just amenities(sp?)

- Thu Feb 07, 2008 1:00 am #41152 Well for someone that is just getting started and doesn't have a lot of mechanical knowledge, or who plans to pay someone else to do the work for them, then an Si or a DX is the best start. But for someone that is on their second or third project car, the VX is the best. Unfortunately it's quite rare to find a stock VX in decent condition.

The VX comes with a tach cluster, front lip spoiler (same as Si), rear diffuser (no other model has it), VTEC wiring, less sound deadening, no rear wiper, lightweight aluminum rims, and no power door locks or windows (which I hate cuz after 15 years, they're guaranteed not to be working). Bad things are small front brakes and rear drums, no power steering, no tilt, and no intermittent wiper. The last two items are easily remedied by swapping the under dash fuse box and the steering column from an Integra or DX Civic. You can swap all four brakes and prop valve from a 94 non-abs Integra.

VTEC wiring is mostly irrelevant because it's just two wires.

No matter what model you get, I consider an engine swap or rebuild to be mandatory because these cars are 15 years old. So mileage and stock motor to me are irrelevant.

If you're staying SOHC, you can re-use the VX's lightweight aluminum lower alternator mount and front driver's side lower engine mount.

Weight difference between an Si and the other models is just barely relevant. But between the VX, DX, or CX, it's not big enough of a difference to matter. It has to be 200lbs or more to be noticeable.

If you want automatic, you have to get a DX. VX, CX, and Si didn't come with that option.

If it's for a purely track car, CX is the best starting point; although it's not all that critical which model you start with.
