#303921 :( where to start....i feel ashamed to say this...but im thinking about scrapping my shell and talking all my good/decent parts off and buying a ek shell for 700, everytime i turn around somethings fucked off or stripped or not even there....im losing interest and money on this car...its been 4 months and i still dont even have the motor ready to drop in...i know it takes lots of time and paitence, but i couldnt have chosen a worse time to do this...i lost my job in january, got into some trouble with the law(lets just say i now have to do drug and alcohol clases), have thousands of dollars in debt..and have to support my wife and daughter, all while trying to go back to school this fall...i have lost the motivation...i feel a sinking in my stomache everytime i look at my pos sitting in the backyard....i want to cry sometimes(im not even close to kidding) when i think off all the trouble i put my family through for this car...i feel disgusted....i may even just sell all my parts to someone who really needs them, i dont think this car will ever see the road again...i know this is alot of negative thinking, but i have to put my priorities in order...and as much as i wish i could just swap motors and throw it all together, that would be even more disgraceful seeing as nothings ready...and it would probably run like shit for a couple months and then id be back to square one, a non running pos  i just dont know what to do anymore guys....i love this honda..but its causing more frustration and dispair than pulling porcupine quills out of my ass...ughhh im sorry for ranting....

#303975 family first. been in a situation where i had a car in pieces sucking the bank account dry and had to trade it off for an already running reliable vehicle...just so i could pay the rent so me and my fiance could live together...it sucks but when your priorities are in order you sleep better. and when you are set up to take on a project it always goes together better and is more enjoyable. whether you build it now or in 5 years its still your creation.

#303990 i had alot of problems with my shell as well during my build...these old honda's have major problems with the bolts rusting in to the bushings and such. it would suck to do all that work then sell it but sometimes you just have to do what you have to do. you probably have less work to do than it looks...just in a slump.

#303997 it really is alot of work, i have to basicaly rebuild the WHOLE front end, new tie rods, lcas, ucas, shocks, struts, coils, bushings, axles, rotors, break pads, on top of that i still new basics for my motor like plugs, wires, cap/rotor, timing belt, water pump, probably new throwout bearing and other parts for my exedy stage 2 clutch, various lengths of wire to finish my tuck, new tires, and i figured out yesterday they guy who owned the car before me tryed to "respray" the bay and didnt even sand the orignal color so when i started to touch it up it all started flaking...i also have to cover all the holes that the previous owner put in the trunk for a spoiler  i also have to finish sanding, then wet sand, then paint the whole car, fix my door locks, find a new drivers door( broken window and dented to shit), drill for my hood pins and put em in...then i have to re-register the car for tabs and plates...ughhh and i have no job....its been sitting for almost 2 weeks and all i have done is sand the new hood and fenders to prep for paint...on top of that i have to put my whole interior back together..so i got a nice long list of parts.....on the upside IF i can get all that done, i probably wont have to work on this damn thing for a while...sooo yeah thats what im lookin at...

EDIT: also have to get all new mounts for the motor/trans

#304056 i hear ya on the sucky task of cleaning up after the previous owner. the guy who i got my sol off of did ALOT of stuff jank. like painting the motor mounts while they were still in the car and did tape anything off....but its the little things like that that stand out the most to me and make me fall in love with the car even more.

#304067 I understand how much work it is. I did the same project to my civic. The hardest part was removing/installing a new core support and filling in all the holes in the engine bay. I may have more power tools than you though? They really helped..i also had alot of rust and body work. I missed a few placed because i couldnt see them. Luckily the dings show very well with my new paint lol

#304075 haha i have like no tools...just the bare basics...and its all ive ever used 8) but your right i mean thats why im so torn, i have put so much money and time into it already and i did get 9 fun months of driving it before the motor finally gave (and i mean lots of abuse :hehe: first vtec honda :thumb: ) so yeah...i think i might just do the bare minimum and not go all out just yet but i do have to do the whole front suspension for it to be road worthy  dont have that kinda money

#304212 so the coupe dodged a bullet today, decided not to get an ek shell and scrap this one...i want to see it through till its road worthy, no matter how long it takes :thumb: but i did find out i have to strip AND repaint the whole bay (numbnuts owner before me didnt sand so it started peeling when i "attempted" to cover some blem marks in the bay)...ughhh...more money and sanding to go.....but aside from plugs/wires/possibly dizzy the new swap is ready to go in, after i fix the mistakes made by the old owner...then i need to button up the wiring and finish suspension and body work...and i think im good...at least i hope...knowing my luck though i'll find some expensive part i HAVE to replace haha but such is life owning a honda i guess

#305581 you got a pretty good build on your hand bro. i'm pretty much in the same boat either the messed up front end. who ever tried to fix it did a HORRIBLE job it looks like a blind drunk kid did it. stay with it though bro it will be worth it.

#306957 so ive had some time do a little painting and body work over the last few days, got most of the back of the car sanded and painted flat black and ready for the final wetsand and clear, still gotta do some more sanding and i had an epiphany...i decided to leave my bay looking like trash along with some other parts of the car...i figured, if it looks good people are going to know i got alot of work into the car, so if someone wants to roll up on me on the highway and see my sleeper look and try to "race" me they will just get a nice little surprise :hehe:

#309114 well some good news, comin into a bit of money and thanks to one of our sponsors (1A Auto) i can pick up new oem axles, and new oem ucas, lcas, inner/outer tierods, lower ball joints, and sway bar end links (all oem) for like 450 bucks...so aside from coilovers im good to go on the front suspension for that...this is just the pick up i needed to keep going..need to repaint my trunk didnt get a thick enough coating of black on there, the primer started to show through using 1000 grit sand paper  just another thing to add to my growing fuck up list lol...but ill keep you guys updated hopefully get some pics today and post em later on.
