#237043 Sooooooooo this morning. I go out to the garage and open it up without really looking out to see the conditions of they alley.

Get in my car, start her up, back up a bit. All of a sudden I get a fair amount of resistance. So I continue to back up all the way into the driveway and halfway into the alley when I realize that there's somewhere between four and six inches of beautiful clean powder on te ground. Most beautiful snow I've ever seen, especially in Texas were we mostly get ice and te snow typically turns into ice withing an hour of falling.

I can barely get a coke can under my car without my scrawny ass sitting in the car. I can't get out of my driveway.

That's four FUCKING days without going to work! I'm going nuts!! I want to see an airplane on jacks, damnit!

#237056 sucks about the snow man, the whole country is just jacked with that stuff right now except for us here in Oregon, it's clear and like 35-50 degrees :thumb:

so did you clear up the CEL's? or just get in your car and drive it like nothing happened?

curious as to what gear you missed?

hopefully she's all good

#237085 You can have the snow! I don't want it! I just want to go to work!

I misshifted from 3rd into 2nd, but caught it before it went any further than 9500rpm.

And since then, I've been babying the car, not going over 5.5-6k rpm to avoid VTEC. Only part throttle accelleration. It's been netting me 29mpg though! :D :(

Good gas mileage there!

so it doesn't have any sort of rev cut or limiter? that seems a bit odd?

i know my rev cut in crome is pretty dramatic.. it just stops and lights up the check engine light

#237096 Well, since I misshifted, it was a mechanical overrev. My fuel cutoff os at 9k. But I RARELY hit that, if ever. I think I've actually only hit the fuel cut twice. Once was on the track, the other time was accellerating to get away from someone on the highway.

I have yet to open the ECU to see if it has a "chip" in it, but I might go do that today while I'm snowed in.

#237169 <<<---- Pissed.

I was expecting a REALLY NICE tax return this year.

Guess how much I'm getting? $18. I can only get half of a tank of gas with eighteen fucking dollars.

There goes my plans for the next couple of months...

#237242 Did a compression and leakdown test today.

Cylinders 1, 3, and 4 are all at or slightly about 220psi (new spec is 270psi). Cylinder 2 is at 90psi.

Did the leakdown on cylinder 2, and the either the intake valves are bent or stretched, or the valve seat is jacked up.

So, that being said, I'm comprising a parts list:

ARP head studs - $129.99
Mugen head gasket (ups statis CR by .4:1 to 11:1 even) - $167.58
2ea OEM intake valves - $31.16
2ea OEM exhaust valves - $57.94
2ea OEM intake valve guides - $13.78
2ea OEM exhaust valve guides - $13.78
2ea intake valve seals - $2.30
2ea exhaust valve seals - $2.30
Exhaust manifold gasket - $12.62
Intake manifold gasket - $8.63
OEM exhaust cam seal - $5.54
Distributor o-ring - $1.40
Cam seals - $10.54
VTEC solenoid gasket - $13.24
Upper timing cover - $31.01

Total cost of parts - $457.26 + shipping + machine shop costs.

If I could afford it, I would upgrade to Crower valves, springs, and retainers, and Supertech valve guides. It's going to be a stretch to get this done as it stands.

A friend of mine is having his GSR head reworked at a local machine shop for $280 to do all guides, resurfacing, and a three angle valve job. My guess is probably around $180-200 for just four guides and a 3 angle valve job. Hopefully the head won't need to be resurfaced.

#237267 I probably will. I was just on hondapartsunlimited.com, and didn't feel like looking on the other sites since I had already found the two major parts I needed.

#237417 dude that's so shitty... $18?

so cylinder 2 didn't fare so well going to 10k RPM eh? hope you didnt crack a relief on the piston or do any damage you can't really repair at a machine shop, are you going to keep on driving it ?

keep posted man, good luck!

#237438 I have no choice but to drive it. It's my only car.

I'm going to see if I can't borrow the borescope here at work this afternoon to get a closer look at what I'm dealing with. I know for certain I need the intake valves, but I'm not sure yet on the exhaust valves.
