my might have set it at 4500 if he did not tune high-cam, so he could drive it w/o worrying. So to change it you would need a computer with tuning software and data cable - best left to someone who knows what they are doing.
What kind of tuning software do you have on the ECU?

edit:
wait... you're running the car exactly how it was with the ecu and 440cc injectors but minus the turbo??
If so then that's the problem. Get stock injectors and a stock ecu.

x2 that is more than likely the source of your problem friend
d-mon wrote:440's will dump too much fuel and wash your cylinder walls.
get some stock(240) injectors and a stock ecu map.

x3. That's your problem right there. Those injectors will destroy your engine, O2 sensor, cat, and your muffler when you're backfiring. And you'll make more power with the proper injectors.

Fuel pressure regulator or not, you should not be running those injectors on a stock ECU.....period. Its even worse since you dont even know what ECU is in the car.
At least get a Hondata chipped P28 ECU and get the car to a dyno for some tuning.

agreed
key word PERIOD... if you dont want to pay alot for a ecu and cant do the dyno thing right away... go to www.phearable.net he will send you a basemap ecu for your app. for like 175 shipped, check it out if your on a time table or in a pinch and still want to use your 440's ? granted it is just a basemap, but its better than what your working with now... and the guy is in florida

Basemaps are crap. You have to get your engine tuned in person.
Stock ECU + stock injectors buddy.
