#178938 okay i just ripped out the dash on my car to do some wiring.
has anyone cleaned up the wires back there so that it will be more neat?
has it been done before? or how would i clean this up?

I did on mine when i got the coin pocket.
What I removed was:
The button assembly where the light regulator is
the rear window heater button (because my rear window's heating lines were broken)

I simply just carefully removed them from my harness.
for dash lights i just jumped 2 wires (forgot which ones) - this way the dash light will always be on full.
The coin pocket replaced that 3-button assembly.

I then used one of the block-off buttons and placed it instead of the window heater switch. im liking it so far.

As for cleanliness - doesnt matter, unless you are running no-dash setup.

other than that you could remove the a/c wires and radio harness, but other than that you cant remove anything else.

#178944 okay thanks. but the reason i say this is because of my electrical problem.
i have no dash lights(illumination) but i have signals and ebrake light....etc
it all comes form Fuse No.19 which is not blown. somewhere on the circuit there is a short or a cut.
what i need to do is cut that Red/Black with from fuse 19 and hard wire it to constant power.
sort of what you did for yours? do you remeber how you did that?
i need to cut the wire after it leaves the fuse panel but i dont know which pin out it comes from?
if i can find out i will just cut and run 12v to it. man would that be great! i could drive at night again!

#178952 try this, while it out plug it back into the fuse box and take out your dash lights plug. strip a metal paper clip and put it into two holes, there is only three combinations. i remember for sure that it involves the red/black wire. try that with ground. if that works then your problem is in the dash light switch.

#178956 sorry im not quiet sure i get it? you want me to jump the fuse?
haha i need like a diagram in MS paint hahaha.

i too thought it was the dash light switch so i replaced it, still nothing.

i have power going to the switch and through the fuse, its after when it splits and leaves the fuse panel in 5 wires that my problem lies.
its the harness at the top on the front of the fuse panel that does the lights and stuff.
somehow power doesnt get to it?

#178980 not the fuse but the actual connector from the dimmer switch: the actual 3 wire connector that plugs into the dimmer switch on your dash right by the steering wheel. there are 3 wires that are comming out of it. jump two of them (i forgot which)

#183307 It's a common problem that the dash light dimmer is bad - this will disguise itself as a "no dashlights" problem. What DontHateonEG8 said is correct - take out the dimmer connector and jump RED/BLK and RED. Here's the circuit:

#183348 the idiot who installed/removed the alarm never plugged the main harness that does the dash lights back into the main fuse panel. :x
