I have a B16a2 sourced out of a USDM 99 Civic Si. I wish it had more bottom end torque however its a fun engine to play with.
If your going to be doing alot of Daily Driving, Going with the b18c would be a better choice. If you have a long commute on the freeway, The short geared b16 transmission wont be the best idea, 70mph is 4000 rpm.
The Stock b18c gsr Transmission will be Taller Geared and Will have less Rpm's at 70. It will have MUCH more torque on the bottom end. I didn't think there would be as much of a difference as there is.
My B16 Hatch gets 20-22mpg in town, upto 25mpg on freeway.
If I was going to choose between a B16a2 and b18c1 today, I would get the b18c1. The extra torque is worth the extra money.

Lol, I'm talking about the car being a daily driver. Its a term that people use for cars they drive everyday, like to the store and around town and back, not to just go to the strip, or a car show or a sunday cruise.

the mpg in the town wont be any better in the b18 only on the highway because of it's boooring long ass gears haha
b16 is more fun
the b18 feels a bit more powerful because of the more low end torque
my advise is if you can drive both engine before choosing your swap that will be the best way to decide

B18C1. All the way. Runs roughly 3600rpm at 70mph with the GSR tranny. Granted, the IM sucks, but that can be changed to a Skunk2 unit for less than $300.

with my STOCK LS w/ LS tranny, I have yet to get beat by ANYTHING with a "stock" B16 in it. I even rolled a gutted hatch with a CTR B16B with ease. i was only faster by 3/10ths of a second but i'm good off the tree and made it look a lot worse than it was.
