so i've been driving w/ a problem and i was just wondering if there was a solution. i got a cluster from this guy and it worked fine for a few days then the speedometer started to move slow or fast.. then moved backwards then jumped to 120.. etc. i'm just curious as to whether this can be fixed or not. everything else like the tach, fuel and temp all work fine.

did you try swapping out clusters to see if the problem went away? might be a bad cluster or a loose connection, could also be a bad speed sensor.

haha.. well it's an everyday beater so i'm hesitant to take out the dash. had the guy i bought it from put it in while he was working on the body. i also chucked the other cluster cuz i cut the face to try and put it onto a gsr cluster which was unsuccessful due to my inferior cutting skills! so now all i have is a gsr cluster and a ls cluster w/ cut up face! i'm hoping it's not the speed sensor

speed sensors easy to change tho and if it is i got a few laying around here for a 5spd and can always go to my junkyard to snag a auto if need be they are cheap here but yea possibly see if you cant find a speedo to use just switch your speedos alittle more time consuming but easier than finding a cluster i guess....see if that helps.

If CEL is on, check the CEL FIRST!!
If the CEL pertains to the speedo sensor, ding ding ding, it's probably just the sensor located ontop of the transmission.
If CEL is NOT on....
Problem: The speedo doesn't work but the odometer works.
Solution: Replace the cluster or just replace the speedo gauge
Problem: The speedo doesn't work AND the odometer doesn't work.
Solution 1*: Bad Sensor - Replace the speedo sensor in the transmission.
*CEL should be on
Solution 2: Bad Gauge - Replace cluster or just replace the speedo gauge
IF Neither solution above fixed it.
Solution 3: Check all wiring from the sensor to the gauge. Because the signal is disrupted somewhere.

i'm probably just ignorant but not sure what CEL is.. i'm guessing i need to replace the cluster from what your saying cuz the odometer works, just the speedometer that's flippin out. darn, i'm a sucker for buying a plain ol' ex cluster for a hundred bucks just to find out it's not even legit! oh well, i'll just take this as a loss and find another cluster.. or somehow get the two integra clusters to oem in the bezel.. thanx for all the help.

You can always buy a cluster without a tach, remove the speedometer from the cluster and swap it with your crappy one. They're all interchangeable.

i've been looking for a cluster w/out a tach just so i can cut out the face and put it onto the integra cluster
. if i find one and fail again at makin the integra cluster look stock then i'ma take that suggestion into mind =D thanks a lot.
