#132775 SO I have a problem. When the car has been sitting for a while, and I try to start it up, I have to put the key in the on position. The check engine will stay on for a few minutes, usually long enough for me to smoke a cigarette, or listen to a song, and THEN you can hear the fuel pump click on and make the brrrrrr noise. The check engine will then click off and the car is good to start. What the HELL is wrong with it? I've put up with it for the past four months, but there have been times where I'm in a hurry and just need to get in the car and go.

We've changed out the 12v relay and checked all the fuses. Everything seems to be connected properly.

The shit of it is, when the car has been running, you can turn it off and turn it right back on. The longer the car sits, the longer it takes to get the fuel pump to kick on.

I also have another issue, it's not that big of a deal, I'm more concerned with the other problem, but the stupid climate control doesn't light up. only the A/C button will light up and only when it's on full blast. none of the others come on. and the dimmer switch has no effect on it either. My JDM SiR cluster lights up fine, but it won't adjust if I try to play with the dimmer switch. It just stays the same brightness. The radio lights up great. so does my ashtray light.

Oh, and this one DOES get on my nerves. The stupid cigarette lighter won't work! I took the console off to make sure it was plugged in, looked at all the fuses, ect.

any suggestions? all the wires appear to be virgin and untouched.

#132825 i would start by checking the voltage at the fuel pump the minute you turn the key on...if it has 12v the whole time i would look into the fuel pump if it does not then i would look into the relay? (even though you did) what about main battery voltage?

make sure you have voltage/continuity first at the pump and ecu, could be a blown cap/resistor on the ecu board? ..... :?

#133261 Will do man. I'll grab my buddies continuity tester. Which wires do I check at the fuel pump?

Thanks for the ideas :) :thumb:

well check from the #7 connector on the main relay harness to the pump located behind the back seat. (might have to pop the metal case off with the 4 screws to grab the 2 pin connector)

the fuel pump wire is a yellow/green stripe wire...just check all the way for no breaks (that's what was wrong with me)...

if that's not the issue then i would look into the main relay, it might be being sluggish to actually kick over the fuel pump on...re solder those connections since that is a free fix. i don't think the ecu/injectors.

oh, for the dash lights, i also have the same problem....i have to physically hit the rehostat (the dimmer switch) then it comes on on and off so check that out.

hope it helps
