General engine questions/issues that aren't specific to the other categories

#129054 For the past two summers I have had overheating issues with my eg. It's a 95 dx coupe and it seems when sitting still, my temp gauge will climb rapidly. I took it to the shop last year and found it was due to a faulty relay that was easily replaced and then the fan worked fine. But now the problem is starting to return. Anyone have any similar issues and what have you done about them?

Second issue I believe is a timing problem. I had some work done at the shop (new distributor, fuel filter) and sometimes, not all times, my car feels sluggish, especially under hard acceleration, the acceleration isn't smooth, it's bogged down and it comes and goes. Almost like my car is carrying some kind of extra invisible weight and it doesn't have the sweet feeling it used to under normal acceleration. Any thoughts? What is the stock timing for the dx 1.5? Any one else have this issue?

#129076 Swipe a fan relay from the junkyard and try that. But it's pretty easy to tell if your fan doesn't come on. Sit there in your driveway and see if it comes on.

Stock timing is on the emissions label under your hood. It's 16 degrees BTDC. You don't need to know what it is. When you set the timing you just line up the pointer to the red mark on the crank pulley. Don't forget to jumper the ECU.
