- Mon Feb 23, 2009 1:01 am #98290 Well, my civic came with a vtec cluster even though the engine is a stock one, and the plastic is missing. That's fine and all, but it is also missing the needle for the engine temp and the needle showing how much gas you have. At first that wasn't a problem, but my job requires me to travel 500-1500 miles straight to get to any Lowe's Hardware for work, and it gets annoying having to 'guess' when I need to fill up and when I need to pull over and let the car cool.

So is there any way to get a needle put on the cluster, or am I going to have to just trade my radar detector for another cluster?

EDIT: Is it possible to 'trade' out parts from one cluster to another? My car is a manual, and the cluster I'll probably be getting is an auto and I'd like to be able to just take the fuel mileage part apart if possible and put it on the manual one if possible.

- Mon Feb 23, 2009 1:36 am #98300 not sure about taking the cluster apart and swapping parts over, but you can use an auto cluster in your manual car. you'll just have the auto gear select lights there.

- Mon Feb 23, 2009 1:41 am #98302 its possible as long as you know what your doing. also as long as its an EX/Si cluster your swapping parts into you should be fine. i say that because the DX/CX has the gas and temp seperated not like the EX/Si

- Mon Feb 23, 2009 5:32 am #98358 You know, you could probably get a junkyard cluster for pretty cheap. It wouldn't be fancy, but it'd get the job done. I'm sure they wouldn't charge you more than $20 for a standard EX/SI cluster which'll include a tach and all the needles in tact.

It's a breeze to remove and replace, just an option.

I've checked at junkyards and haven't found a single eg. I've checked on eBay and they are around 100 bucks each
