#346999 alright i've searched and searched online and read all the pages saying, can't be done and heads to wide and lots of other stuff but i want like a more definitive like heres the bore spacing of a zc heres the bore spacing of a b16a head or heres a zc head casket (shows coolant port locations) and a b16a head gasket

#347004 The B16 is 80mm bore while the D is 75mm. If you put 4 80mm cyls side by side and 4 75mm cyls side by side, the 80mm ones are going to be an overall 20mm wider, 10mm on each side. So the head will not sit evenly over all of the cylinders. The oil and coolant passages don't line up but you could have that custom machined if you had the time/money.
No articles have been done to disprove this theory because 10+ years ago people looked at a b16 head and a DOHC zc block and could tell by eyeballing it that there was no way it was going to happen. No need to spend the time documenting the differences for comparison, they're that far apart that it will never be cost effective for it to be attempted.

There's been some pretty crazy stuff done with honda motors, such as the reverse mounted h22 head swap, but B16a head on DOHC zc block has never been documented. The 2 guys in the pic you posted saying they did it both have their hood shut on the pic of their civic. :eh:

If it is possible, I'd like to see it :thumb:

#347006 Here are 3 different articles about those cars:

The Import Tuner has the exact same info you posted.

Super Street's article on the same cars in 2009 says it's a B16a with an EK head.

#347041 well they didn't do it to achieve huge power numbers they did it to achieve sustainable high and low end torque and they still wanted to make good power up at 9k. the white ef with the b16a and ek head is owned by Kei Miura, if you don't recognize 6666 customs or tra kyoto maybe you know rocket bunny, basically these pictures are from back when him and kazuhiro furakawa (the owner of osaka jdm/car craft boon) still were very active in the osaka region kanjo racing (illegal street racing on the toll highway loops around the osaka region of japan) very twisty curvy with short straights and lots of cars to weave through. making a big power engine was not really useful most kanjo racers would just run a stock zc or b16a with minor tuning and a full race exhaust in stripped out ef hatches with japanese group a racing liveries on there cars. now to the b16a head on a zc the only two documented cars ever having said they have this engine(given i cant see the engine code and head code to compare in any pictures) is Kei Miura and his shop assistant, the both run the same setup with the same colors on there cars just different in design, given that he owns a shop and if you look cloesly at the white ef you'll see the body kit (especially the front bumper) is completely one off, so i guess if anyone has the time money and engineering know how to make a zc block and b16 head work it'd be Kei Miura.
