Audi has been doing it right lately!
So Audi turned the A3 into a sedan version (though there will still be a wagon version as well) for 2014 basically to have something that will start start under $30k (compete with the Mercedes CLA) since the A4 is getting bigger and bigger and more expensive. From what I've read, the size of the A3 sedan is about the same as the old B5 A4. I love the way it looks, like a tighter A4. Interior is a little bland but you can option the hell of out of it if you want for all sort of neat gadgets that were previously only offered on higher end models (4G LTE connectivity, MMI infotainment with touch controller). Engines range from 170HP 1.8T to a 2.0TDI, all mated to a 6 speed S-Tronic transmission. There is also a plug-in hybrid (Chevy Volt like...30 miles all electric then backup engine).
Starts at $29,900, comes standard with panoramic sunroof, leather seats (real leather, apparently the same leather used in the A8) and bi-xenon headlights.
