#30581 K so a friend and i were hangin out one day and his aunt called us to see if we could put a timing belt on her 91 civic. we said yeah we'd be up the next morning to do it, it took us about an hour, maybe a little less, after she came out to pay us and i asked her about the civic on the side of her house. she said it's just been sittin, long story short we took it to my friends house swapped out the stock like 50hp 8 valve engine for a d16z6 from a 95 coupe. Yeah tons of work ALOT of fabrication and this is what we ended up with......

#30590 I love projects like this! 8) Nice work! Please keep this thread updated :thumb:
How does it run/drive?
I'm gonna move it to the "your ride" section so it will be easier to find.

it drives pretty good, we had to do a lug conversion cause it didn't have the 4x100 once we did that then we could swap out for whatever wheels we wanted. we used a apc cheap $25 lowering kit that is made for an eg and put the springs on ths car, thats why the front is so low. And this thing FLIES haha. it was stock 1700 pounds with that 50 somthin hp motor, now with that swap the car is freakin quick. we're going to go run it on the dyno maybe this weekend. and then at the track in march or april when they open back up.

#30634 what bolt pattern did it have before you put 4x100 on?

Did you use the D axles? looks like the mounts & brackets were custom fabricated, any other custom fabrications that you had to do?

One more thing... it looks like the master brake cyl & booster is on the left side of the firewall, like RHD civics. But the clutch master cyl in on the right side like LHD civics.
So it's LHD, and the booster was on the opposite side from the pedals, then you added the clutch master cyl on the same side as the pedals?

You have access to a shop or are you doing this out of your garage? Cause that is some damn good work :thumb:

#30656 That is cool as hell, I'd love to do a project like this. Bit by bit retro fit a bunch of things from newer hondas into it, but still maintain the look of the original civic.

#30703 Props on the build man, it looks awesome! It would be a blast to embark on a project like this.

If it were me, I would be thinking boost the Z6.

Have you?

i'm not sure what pattern was on before, but it was bigger then 4x100.

as for axles, we took the stock 1st gen ones and the d-series ones and had to cut them in half and weld the tranny side of the d-series to the hub side of the first gen axles. it was a pain but it worked, no vibrations.

i think that when these cars were built they were all set up as a RHD, on the inside of the car ther is a bar that runs from the right side to the left and connects the brake pedel to the booster. it's wierd. and for the clutch cylinder we used a hole saw drill bit and just fabbed it up to the clutch pedel converting it from cable to hydro.

most of this was done out of my friends garage. he designed the engine mounts and we built them at work (a metal fab shop) then went home and used a lincoln 120v welder to weld them in. we also had to cut the stock 1st gen shift linkage and weld it to the d-series tranny linkage to get the trans to work right. :thumb:

HeHe you read our minds. this is going to be used as my friends daily for the winter while he pulls and builds the gsr that is in his eg 4door. once thats done he wants to turbo the z6, but we're kinda outta room for a normal turbo manifold, so the plan is to custon build our own that will relocate the turbo over to the passenger side of the engine bay, maybe even put it in place of the right head light, or in the grill, somewhere visible lol.

I'll get some more photos for you, we took out the stock gauage cluster, took the gauges out of it and fabed in gauges from an EG. wiring was kind of a pain, and lighting, but LED's fixed the light problem lol. also you cant tell in the pics but the seats inside are from a brand new toyota sienna mini-van, they hadn't even been installed before we got them, not honda but they are freakin comfortable as SHIT haha.
