#161773 well reason for making this is i cant figure which way to go. hondata s300? or ship? i have a chipped ecu for my boost but that didnt work. might be the chipp but who knows.
after research.. (not so much found) which is easier and best route.
pros cons on both???
may be a good thing to discus... yay or nay?

#161905 both can work, piggy back setups are old tech and a chipped and tuned ecu is a better setup as its simpler(less to go wrong later), has more features and is more reliable in general.

given the fact they are about the same price, I would get a chipped/tuned ecu and enjoy the more features it offers and the peace of mind that your wiring harness doesn't have tons of splices in it. Its always the stuff you mess with or splice into that messes up in the future.

#161941 the s300 is the same as a chip, once it is installed in your ecu, that's all you have. Ignore 'ebay' chips, engine management is something that you don't want to go generic on. There's free programs that you can install on a chipped ecu such as Crome, Neptune. And there's S300 and eCtune which cost money.
I would stay away from piggyback systems unless you REALLY know what you're doing. Even then, don't cheap out on engine management. Get it professionally chipped and tuned and know your setup will be reliable :thumb:

#162925 Stay away from piggy back set ups. You'll only spend more in the end after your motor goes boom. yeah a fuel controller is cool and all, but you have zero control over timing. We stopped blowing up cars what, 9 years ago thanks to programs such as Neptune, hondata, ETC..
