#285390 From my experiences with the Supra, a lightweight flywheel makes a world of difference when it comes to engine revs and how quickly it responds/ returns to idle. So I have a couple of questions:

How does a lightweight flywheel do on these smaller displacement engines?

I have a 1.5L D15, I notice when I pull higher rpms and go to shift, I put the trans in gear and release the clutch before the engine has time to drop to the correct rpms for the new gear. So I figured maybe a lightweight flywheel would help this?

Thoughts? Opinions?

Thanks.

#285393 Correct, the RPM's drop much quicker with a light weight flywheel.

I have an 8.5 lb flywheel and 6 puck clutch and if I don't shift fast, the RPM's drop too low and I'll have to give the throttle a slight blip to get the engine back up in the ideal RPM range to match the flywheel.

The other noticeable difference is having to give a little more gas pedal when going up long hills than if you were using a stock flywheel. This is because a light flywheel doesn't carry the inertia that a heavier one does.

#285547 Ok, so thats somthing to consider picking up next time I have the powertrain apart.

Thanks for the reply.
