I bought the hatch with a carbon fiber hatch. and there was no lock cylinder. And also it didnt have the pieces of metal on the side where the hatch locks on to. I went to the junkyard and picked them up today, tried putting it on but the rear hatch still doesnt lock. It doesnt make contact. i tried it in every position, and switch them. I know ive seen a DIY about it. But any opinions?

have you tried to see which part you are missing by tearing apart your old rear?

I got a VIS CF hatch and I had to do some trimming to get the hardware to fit. I didn't install the cylinder lock. FOr the latches on the sides I has to do a little trimming and use longer bolts to align them better. The hardware inside of the hatch that opens the latches up from the finger handle had to be modified by bending them to make them shorter/longer as well. It took some time to get it perfect and I still have to push kinda hard on the tail gate to get both sides to latch.

damn... im kinda confused, dont know what to do. might just take it to a body shop and have them do it. But i saw your rear hatch, you dont have a lock cylinder there. In my cf hatch i have a hole for the lock cylinder, is there like an insert i can put in there if i dont want that?

You could always fab one up or find a round plug that will fit.
