#104312 I am replacing my stock fan with a slim one. The new fan just has a positive and a negative wire. The stock fan had a little black box on the fan side of the wiring harness, like an inch long rectangle, with all of the wires for the fan going in and out of it. There was white type on it but it is worn away. The box is bolted to the upper corner of the fan if you want to see what I'm talking about, I don't have a pic yet.

So can I leave this little black box with the old fan and forget about it?

#104345 Yeah you want to keep that. It's a capacitor used to dampen the sudden and very large current draw that the fan unleashes when it's turned on. W/out it your car might stall, or at the very least it will briefly dim out all the lights in your car and stereo.

#104422 Good info, I was wondering what that was. I did not use it when I put in my FAL slim fan, the directions did not mention anything about it
