#58792 hello guys
because of the increasing Gasoline prices Ive decided to buy a used hatch with a 1.2cc (PH12) engine. and ofcourse really love the looks of the eg civic...

just bought it yesterday so I dont really know how much KM per liter it will give me...

Im just asking for advice if how can I further save fuel on this cute thing.
will CAI or Short ram KNN help save fuel?
also installing header and free flow muff?

I know its a slow car but here you cant stay 100km/h for 3seconds because of the traffic. and this car will be my DD
just wanna save money :)

Also Planning in using Autogas LPG

any inputs is greatly appreciated thanks

#58799 Forget LPG, go with G3 if you can get it were ever you are :)
G3 = LPG btw, but the installation is a bit different from LPG, it saves fuel and it'll take longer before your engine dies (and trust me, a Honda on LPG will burn up in the end, a new engine will die at about 180k km's).

The mods you mentioned will make the car go faster, not provide you with better mileage.

#58810 for better mileage, look into light weight wheels. Also a skinnier tire footprint will have less rolling resistance. Stay away from larger diameter wheels, smaller dia. wheels will have less rotating mass.

Lighten your vehicle where possible.

Improve aerodynamics for high speed driving.
A rear diffuser will help prevent your bumper from acting as a parachute. Some drill large holes in the rear bumper but I don't think it's worth it IMO)

A long geared transmission will help at higher constant speeds.

Keeping your car well tuned and a good alignment will also make a huge difference :thumb:

if it wont give better mileage will it give poor mileage? or it has no connection on fuel consumption? thanks

we have only two station in our place and I dont know what kind of LPG they use they just call it Autogas...

half of our taxi cab here uses Autogas

#58926 Everything Teal said is correct, it all has to do with how drastic you wanna go for better gas mileage. Well adding an intake system will boost the performance of your vehicle by filtering the air at a higher percentage and also the higher percentage of air flow quantity. You will see an improvement on gas mileage. Do keep in mind that your driving habits will also be an important roll in better gas mileage. My $.02

#58988 I get between 33-36 MPG in my EG Hatch with a B18B1 swap in it. I drive about 27 miles to work each day and keep track of all fuel used. I find myself doing a lot of coasting and avoiding driving up large hills cause that makes a big difference.

The rear diffuser sounds like a good idea. I think drilling holes in bumpers is pretty ugly. But I wouldn't mind mounting something under there. Know of any companies that make them for a fair price?

#58991 i just bought the VX rear diffuser from the dealer for like 40 something bucks with hardware.

check www.hondaautomotiveparts.com they usually have good prices then compare them to your local dealer.

#58996 I average 39mpg around town and I've gotten as high as 47mpg on the freeway. I drove from Salt Lake City to Albuquerque and only stopped for gas once!

In addition to the VX rear diffuser you should also get a VX/Si front lip spoiler. It helps push the air down in front of the front tires and that can increase your freeway mpg.

Converting from PS to manual steering netted me 4 mpg on my previous hatch.

Never coast in neutral because then the injectors have to idle the engine. If you coast in gear the injectors are turned off because the wheels are rotating the engine. The cutoff point is between 900-1000 RPM.

Ignition timing has a very pronounced effect on mpg. First verify your base timing is on the red line and get some basline figures. Then try advancing it to the high side of spec and see if that improves mileage or hurts it.

Do you have the part number for that? I just looked through the site on a '94 VX and didn't see anything that looked like a diffuser on the bumper, tailgate, or back end pages.

Thanks.
