#57450 MAP stands for Manifold Absolute Pressure (or is it Manifold Air Pressure)

but what the MAP sensor dies is measure the air going through your throttle body which tells the ECU how much fuel it needs to go with the air.

Naturally aspirated motors operate on vacuum, there is not positive pressure in the manifold ever. Only what the motor sucks in from the asmosphere when the piston moves down.

When you bring a supercharger or turbo into the picture, you have air being forced into the throttle body & intake manifold. The stock map sensor (good to about 11 psi) was never meant to read that high. So that's why people upgrade to 2, 2.5 or 3 bar MAP sensors.
1 bar = 14.5 psi
