Manual Swap Starter

- Mon Feb 04, 2008 2:16 pm #40807 Anyone know if it differs from the Automatic one? i'm pretty sure it is, but i want to make sure that there is a difference before i pick one up. now i can get one used from a friend for free. Will it be needed for a manual swap? or should i just keep the auto one that i know is good?

you'll also need the lower starter bolt fror a manual transmission, as it is longer than the automatic one. The bolt on the top is the same on manual and autos.

- Mon Feb 04, 2008 4:07 pm #40822 ok cool. just making sure, i use the right one. i was talking to my stepbrother last night who is a mechanic, and told him i found one for free, and he said "why do you need a new one for a manual tranny?"

He may be a mechanic but lives in a Toyota family :lol:

- Wed Feb 13, 2008 6:08 am #42098 The auto starter bolts directly to the bell housing.. the manual bottom bolt bolts through the bell housing into the block hence the need for a much longer bolt. :)
