#17935 so i recently took a trip to michigan...it was about 260 miles there and back...i got home and noticed there was a weird ticking noise...i didnt think much of it cuz the motor went through quite a journey...anyway i take my car out today and i get home and the noise is three times as bad....sounds like my valves are tapping or somethin....anyway it also looks like my timing belt could have streched out a bit...i think i might have skipped some timing and everything is off now...can someone give me some suggestions on what u think i should do...i have a stock d16z6

#17946 if your timing belt skipped a tooth, your engine would be running horribly, so I don't think that is it. Has your oil been changed on time and was it up to the proper level? It may just be time to adjust the valvelash. I think it is supposed to be checked every 15k mi.

#17971 oh if it is running bad then definitely check the timing.
you can hold the tensioner to make the belt loose, and then rotate the cam gear pulley just a tooth, then tighten the tensioner. so that way you don't have to take everything apart.
I'd check it w/ a timing light first. also, sometimes you can tell by rotating your dizzy to advance / retard the timing. clockwise = retard, counterclockwise = advance.
