#57438 OK i tried to follow my repair manual to time my d15b vtec but they make it so freaking difficult to do it!!! I just want to know which line do i need to align the markings to on the pulley. this one ||| or the one alone | And do i need a timing gun with an advance dial? and if i do then what do i set it to?

#57451 I don't have my manual with me, but....
one of the marks is TDC, the other is something like 14° Before TDC (depending on the motor)

So depending on which mark you use, you will not need to advance the gun.

Hopefully someone will chime in soon with the exact details, I'm worthless w/o the manual in front of me when it comes to this lol

#57452 On mine there are 3 marks close together, they are 14,16,18 degrees. There is one mark by itself and that's 0 degrees I believe.

I've always heard to time it to 16 degrees. which would be the middle line of the group of 3. This is B-series though.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong ha.

#57454 if you don't have and advance timing gun (like me) line up on the red mark.
white mark is crank TDC.

#57501 So if i don't have timing gun with an advance dial, do i put it on the mark by itself. and isn't a gun with the advance dial worthless since the manual says that it should be 16 degrees BTDC (BEFORE Top Dead Center)

#57515 I don't know how to do it without a gun... The gun reads when the number 1 cylinder fires, and then flashes a light on to the pulley. It worth just getting a gun. I think craftsmen has them for like $20, so I know there are cheaper ones out there.

If you gun doesn't advance, line up on the red mark (which is 16 degrees BTDC), not worthless, you just need to know what you are doing.
If it does, set it to 16* and line up on white mark.

i am making the assumption that you have the correct crank pulley for your motor
