So..... I have another problem....... My car is over heating badly. I cant figure out if its because the water pump has gone out or the thermostat isnt opening. It's fine when idling but soon as I put my foot on the gas the gauge pegs. Any ideas?????

thermostats is cheaper to replace than water pump.
but first... Check all signs. Is your fan turning on? Are both upper and lower hose hot after driving.
is your gauge shooting to H while driving?
