#166387 Hi all,

I realize my post count at this board is pretty low, but I've been most active on H-T, and written up quite a number of lengthy DIYs for EG Civics. (See: http://docs.google.com/View?id=dgw2d6hg_241gsjv7scv)

My DIYs use pictures I've loaded onto Picasa, which often require me to size them down when posting on boards (Google says any embedded images or links hosted by them over 800dpi is verboten). I simply need to add "?imgmax=800" (or 640 or 320, etc.) at the end of the picture url and it is resized.

The trouble is that on this board, this text after the pic url must make it unrecognizeable to the software as a url ... so you just see the code for the link and not the pic. As an example, this:

Image EDIT: fixed typo!

... doesn't work. This equivalent url works fine on H-T. Can we troubleshoot this? It is very frustrating. Is this because HTML is OFF? Can it be turned on? Or, can it be turned on just for me?

#166449 Hi, the IMG tags must have a .jpg .gif .bmp etc at the end of the file name to work.

So instead of using
http://lh5.ggpht.com/_dKrAeypy4kc/SwR-M ... GP5280.JPG>imgmax=800

just use
http://lh5.ggpht.com/_dKrAeypy4kc/SwR-M ... GP5280.JPG

In the example you gave both links are the same size image.
Are your other images much larger?

If it is going to be a problem, I could host them on our server if you want.
Unfortunately html in posting cannot be activated for only one member.

Nice DIY's you have made by the way :thumb:

#166458 Dang - I made bad typo... I meant:

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_dKrAeypy4kc/SwR-M ... imgmax=800 <-- note '?' after .JPG

So, for example, if I want the image at 320:

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_dKrAeypy4kc/SwR-M ... imgmax=320

640:

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_dKrAeypy4kc/SwR-M ... imgmax=640

800:

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_dKrAeypy4kc/SwR-M ... imgmax=800

The original is large... and sometimes they are even larger:

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_dKrAeypy4kc/SwR-M ... GP5280.JPG

The trouble is that with Picasa, the image that I link to/embed can't be larger than 800dpi, so I need the "?imgmax=" part after the .JPG

Is it possible to turn ON HTML? Is there a reason it's off?

Also... while I've got your attention: There's a problem with the Garage on the site here. I can't create a new vehicle.... after I click the submit button, I get an error message.

#166540 HTML has always been off because it can be a security issue. Also people could really bog down posts if they load them up with html like a myspace page. Most phpbb forums that I have seen keep HTML off for that reason.

And that's correct on the garage. We're phasing it out because it is going to be gone eventually. I don't want any one else to lose the time they put into it when it is gone. That's why it no longer appears in any of the menus. I suggest a link to a build thread in your signature :thumb:
