check the tail light foam gasket. they need replaced after a long time.
best way to find out, sit in your hatch and watch while friend hoses your car down. you'll probably need to pull out the plastic panels for a better look

Most likely you are leaking from the window seal. I suggest taking ur rear interior out to look farther into where its coming from before anyone can really help you out.

trust me the weather stripping is usually the problem. Also the way they designed to drain the water goes thru the seals and usually starts to leak.

I sometimes get water collecting in the same are - it gets in from the seal around the rear hatch, goes down my c-pillar and collects at the bottom
I jsut pulled the seal off, cleaned the crap and put it back on - its stayed dry since

I know this is an old thread but I have just noticed the same problem with my 94 hatch.
The rear Drivers side (UK car) is leaking somwhere, the rear seatbelt is soaking, it seems to be dripping on top of it, what do you mean by weatherstripping? any other places water can get in? looks like its from the roof or pretty high up!
thank you

The black stripping that runs down either side of the roof on the outside of the car. After time that stuff dries out and starts to let water into the car.

Whats the best way to fix the problem? replace it? remove and seal it with some sillicone?
How does it come off?
Thank you
