That's if he's just applied the body filler and getting it ready to sand before it fully cures.

It depends on how careful you want to be. Every pro shop I've been too sands the dried body filler if you're working on dried material that they are removing. A grinder or wire brush may do much more damage than you looked for if you're not careful.
