#22551 Ok well when i baught my car the bodywork was rough and in much need of some tlc.


i've now sanded down my bonnet now and its all nice and smooth and i think im ready to paint it, its just i know nothing about car painting

Like do i have to primer it or do anything to it before i take my next step, whatever my next step is ?

Can someone help me out ?

#22554 any pics of the work done? You'll want to primer the same primer as the rest of your car so that your yellow will have a better chance of matching (if it's the yellow hatch in your sig).

Also, with a light color like white or yellow, any filler used needs to be the stain free type. after you prime, block sand w/ 600 grit to check for any high/low spots you may have missed. Then depending on the kind of paint you're going to use, it might be a good idea to spray a layer of Primer Sealer first.

#22555 also, use a wax & grease remover between every step before applying paint or primer. Then if there is any remaining dust, do a light wipe down with a tack-rag.

#22863 I'd degrease it, and spray it with primer. A few light coats is always better than 1 thick coat. Then block sand it with 600 grit. If everything is looking good w/ no low spots, then you're ready to degrease it again w/ the wax & grease remover and paint it. :thumb:
