#179789 wash the area you will be sanding down so you know how far you need to sand.

you don't want to sand all the way down to bare metal.

I'd wet sand with some 400 or 600 grit :thumb:

#179912 anything that allready has paint on it you can wet or dry sany with 320 or finer for paint on paint... if the bumper is allready painted it dosent matter if its plastic you shouldnt have any adheasion issues... the coarser the paper the more likely scratches will come thru. you could do a sand with 4oo and then go back over it with 6oo and a scuff pad (red/burgandy), any bare spots you have primer before painting, if your doing paint on paint you can do, like i said 320 or finer will work, make sure you primer any bare spots, if you have alot of cut thru you may want to think about a coat of sealer... any body work will will need to be primed before you paint so it dosent soak in..

yup what he said. i personaly would try to remove the clear coat entirel from the trunk. cause if the clear is peeling off you dont wanna sand it and paint over it. it will start to decay underneith and cause your paint to lift..
