Appearance, Paint & Body Work

#8376 I've started painting the front end of my car using the process located here:

http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=2331682&page=0&fpart=1&vc=1

And so far it's going quite well I think. I'll post pics once I get a bunch. Anyway after the front end is done I have to move onto the sides and I'm divided about what to do with the side moldings. My choices are:

1. Just put them back on after paint.
2. Paint them to match the car and put them back on.
3. Leave them off and weld over the holes and paint over (leaving the channels there)
4. Purchase JDM thin side moldings like these:

The variety of pics I have been able to find of each choice has been slim so your opinion as well as any pics you may have to show an example would be much appreciated.

#8388 As long as you don't shave them it's fine with me. I think they are quite purposeful though, so I'd recommend putting them back on. And seeing as they are meant to stop door dings, I don't see the need to spend extra money for JDM moldings just for them to get beat up. The JDM craze was over 6 years ago anyways.

#8408 welding over the holes is gonna be some work...
what color will your car be? something that black will look good on? if not, then you could paint them to match The JDM ones look better on the car, but for $150... that's probably more than you're spending on the paint job.

If you're building on a budget, I vote keep the OEM ones or paint them depending on the color.

#8469 My hatch is Milano Red. I'll be painting it the same color. Bood point about the dent prevention. The welding wont be a problem. My brother is in auto body and can do it in a snap. I've narrowed it down to painting the OEM ones or welding over the holes and painting. You're right the JDM ones are a waste of money.
