#54156 i have 13" rims and 175/70R13 tires. i am thinking of changing it to 15", 195/60R15 tires. any inputs/issues about this change? some say there will be braking issues and perhaps wheel well (space) issues. i am aware of the speedometer reading differences, but i don't care about that. thanks.

#54162 60 series on a 15" rim is a lil too big IMHO. Consider going with a 195-50-15 or a 205-50-15.

There wont be any braking issues, and spacing shouldnt be a problem unless you get a rim with a huge offset. :thumb:

#54165 Ur braking should improve as ur putting wider tyres on and ur rims diameter is bigger so the brakes will have a greater clearance, so i dont know what problem they are refering to. And have to second that the 60 series is too much. Ur current tyres have a overal diameter of 452.7mm and the 195/60/15 is 498mm but the 195/50/15 is 478.5. The cons of a larger diameter is, the longer the gears are going to be, the higher the ground clearance and to a certain extent because the side walls are higher, more movement of the tyre under cornering. The pro's are a slightly softer ride, and more protection when hitting something for ur rims and for puncturing the tyre.

#54173 it is installed in my friend's 98 civic at the moment with michelin tires and he is planning to sell the car but leave the rims. instead, he decided to sell it to me. its a good deal so i get what is already there. what's an offset? do you think that will be an issue if i install it in my 93 civic?

#54178 the 96-00 use a 185/65R14 tire while the 92-95 use a 185/60R14 tire. Every generation of civic uses a slightly bigger tire as the car gets bigger.

So 195/60R15 is really a little too tall of a tire for your friend's EK, but is even bigger for your EG.

Offset determines how far your wheels will stick out. stick with something close to +40mm and you'll be OK, but using too large of a tire will lead to rubbing.

#54376 what they said. 195/60 is a little too chunky.

195/50 is your best bet, but if you worry too much on uneven roads. 195/55 should serve you 205s are good but based on experience sometimes it has some rubbing issues depending on your ride height
