ECU, Wiring, Sensors

#68791 OK. so first off this is my first post. so hello to everyone. My situation is i had purchased a 94 civic cx hatch, which had the 8v single cam(d15b8). I had a extra d15b1 from a 90 hatch which is a 16v. My original intent was to just swap the head, but the d15b8 smoked badly due to rings needing replaced i would imagine So i pulled the b8 out and dropped the b1 in, also i removed the very tiny intake manifold from the b8 and replaced it with a dx manifold from another eg. Everything seemed ok untill i tried to drive it. it wouldn't run right with the dx manifold in place so i put the cx manifold back on and it ran better. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the ecu from the b8 and the sensors not liking the dx manifold, they are identical except for the fact the the dx manifold is larger. What i need to know is would all i have to do is get the ecu from a eg dx 5 speed? (by the way mine is 5 speed). Also does anyone know the model number or code for the ecu that i need. my local junk yard sell ecu's for about $25, so i need to know that i'm getting the right one.

#68824 I think you may be correct. Mine is a P05, but i'll just have to search around a bit. If the junkyard has the right one then $25 for an ecu isn't bad is it?

#68827 the d15b1 is an OBD0 motor, it should not be put into an OBD1 civic. The OBD0 ecu that ran your d15b1 does not plug into your OBD1 civic's wiring harness. Maybe you could use a conversion harness, but it still may not run right.

Your current ECU is for 8v head, so the fuel maps are way off for a 16v head.
If you want to use your cx 8v head & stock ecu, then just swap the complete block & keep your obd1 head, intake manifold & exhaust manifold (has cat by header?)

Or try getting the OBD1 dx ecu, and install the whole d15b1 engine with the OBD1 dx intake manifold.

When you mix & match, there's always the chance that the air/fuel maps in the ecu will not be optimal for the frankenstein motor setup, but I think either of the above situations will be much better than what you have right now.
