Well my car is a full obd2 swap but I know as soon as I tell them an obd1 car is obd2 they won't listen and probably try obd1 testing. Will I fail? How do I pass without converting down?

What state? What motor swap? Did it fail already?

I live in Texas. Its a B18B1 swap. My inspection isn't up until September, but I wanna get any issues I might have resolved before then.

How do they test obd1 vs obd2 in your state? In ohio, obd1 cars are put on the Dyno with a sniffer in the exhaust pipe. Obd2 cars are only diagnostic. So here an obd1 car with obd2 swap would just go on the Dyno/sniffer. Swapping to something newer isn't the problem in most cases. It is when you put an older, less efficient, higher emissions engine into a newer vehicle that causes problems at emissions check.

It will be treated as an OBD1 car. It's based on the chassis, not the engine.
I'm surprised Texas has emissions testing.

Thanks for the help guys. Yea in Texas we have emissions tests in the metro areas, Houston, Dfw, Austin, San Antonio. Messed up thing is if I lived 10 miles down the road it'd only be safety
