#66011 So my wire tuck is complete! *cheering from nowhere*

But before you all break out into song and dance...the journey is not yet over. My car still won't start. This is to be somewhat expected seeing as how, 1: this is my first time doing this, and 2: I did it slowly during my spare time over a span of about 2 months...so I probably missed some things.

Right now, I turn the key to the "turn on the engine point" And nothing happens.

If I leave it turned as much as it will go (the second setting) The stereo works just fine but these following problems occur...

- Tail lights come on for no reason. Whether or not my headlights are set to "on or "off"
- My "right hand turn signal" light is on. Not FLASHING mind you...just...on. Also, doesn't matter what my turn signal "lever" is set to. It's always on.
- There is a strange, yet subtle, humming noise coming from what I presume to be SOMETHING relative to the climate control.
- My "check engine" light is on. Which is ok because I have some things not plugged in in there.
- My "oil" light is low...odd because I have more than enough oil in the engine...but I believe it has something to do with a sensor.
- This next one is odd...my "battery" light is on. Very odd seeing as how my stereo and lights work yet it's claiming it's dead.

The main issue here however is that when I turn the key, it does absolutely nothing. Not even TRYING to turn over.

I will be out in the shop slaving over these issues, but if you guys have any ideas PLEASE let me know things that I could try to speed up my troubleshooting.

Thanks

#66024 I tried to jump the starter via a heavy cable to bypass all of everything else. Turns out the starter wont even respond to that. Nothing...the celenoid doesn't spin or anything...is it broken? or is there something i missed to connect?

#66034 oh man, you have a headache ahead of you :(

I'd start by getting wiring diagrams from a manual. they tell you where each wire goes and its color. it sounds like you have more than a couple wires crossed.

See if any fuses are blown, that will help you find the short if you have one. You'll at least know the general area of the problem, then check back over every inch of wiring in that area.

electrical problems are the worst in my opinion, I feel your pain. When you finally find it it is usually something small/stupid that is causing all the problems.

#66043 It ok. I'd rather not get stressed out. That will just slow me down.

I have the whole manual here on my laptop, but they are very confusing to understand. I need a diagram that is like...

HERES A PLUG

|

THIS IS WHERE IT GOES AND WHY

|

THESE ARE THE COLORS OF THE WIRES COMMING OUT OF IT.

But its not...they have pictures of where the wires go in the stock engine...but that doesn't help me when My wiring harness has been changed so much. I just wish someone would tell me where every wire went in one list.

Now if I only had a full color picture book depicting where all the plugs go...

Maybe you guys could help me, I'll get a list of a few plugs ready and get some pictures for them. In return you guys could tel me...

"ooh the plug with the green black and red wires goes 'here'"

>_>

#68708 let me ask you something... when you pull those harness out to tuck them. exactly how did you get them thru? . in any way did u use a flathead to force any wire thru? i seen some alarm and audio shop did some damage... including myself.... smh.... when we run a wire thru the firewall. it could be difficult. so sometimes we have tools like a metal hanger or something similar to it and tape the wire on it and try to force it thru the rubber booth into the engine way. rarely but sometimes it CUT some wires and sometimes those wire are extremely important. i believe you might've use a tool to get those wires where u want them. whereva u press on you need to split it open and check all the wire for any expose or damage you cause it.
