#181491 There's a hundred things that would cause it to run bad before i would suspect the ECU.

Tell us about the car and the mods you have done. Also any maintenance you have done over time.

Did it just run like crap one day or get gradually worse over time? Do you have a check engine light?

#181500 it ran fine the day i got it but then later that day it decided to sound like it all of a sudden started taking in a crap load of air and not going anywhere like no power at all. its got a p14 ecu and its throwing 3 cel's which me and my friend ran them up and it was 43, 23, and 12 i believe which we figured out were egr valve, knock sensor, and o2 sensor. but it ran fine when i got it with the cel's. its only got a cai and dc headers. me and my friend just changed the spark plugs, did a radiator flush, oil change, thermostat, and we messed with the distrubutor a little bit which made the engine not run so hard. when i start it up it also idles up and down for a while but then goes away.

#181513 a malfunctioning O2 sensor will make your car run like crap. I'd start by replacing that for sure.

What engine do you have that has EGR valve and Knock Sensor?

The EGR valve can be cleaned out or replaced. I' try cleaning it out first.

#181516 its a h23 non vtec out of the 93-95 prelude
ya ima get my ecu chipped so it doesnt read that or the knock sensor cuz i really think thats wats fucking it up
and i really dont know wat the egr valve looks like so i cant even start there

#181517 The EGR is located on the intake manifold, on the runners.

Here's something worth reading:

Also get a good o2 sensor - it's not even worth trying to trouble shoot a problem when running a bad o2 sensor because air/fuel will be all out of whack.

#181523 oh nice thanks that sounds like exactly wats happening to mine

#181536 so i did a little bit more reading into this and have come to the realization that my egr valve doesnt even have a vacuum line going to it or a connector to the end of it cuz i just went out there and looked at it... it would be pointless for me to clean it since its not connected so can i just get a block off plate and chip my ecu???

#181581 The idea behind tuning is that if your engine isn't right to begin with then chipping your ecu as a bandaid for the original problem is not the answer.
Get your engine running 100% correctly before you start to modify/tune your engine.
Unless of course you have another engine ready to go in and you don't care how long this one lasts.

#182350 so it threw 2 new extra codes which are 3 and 7 which are map sensor and throttle position sensor so now its runnin even more rough... and the code 43 is fuel supply system where do i start to try to fix that?

#182352 Have you adjusted ignition timing?

#182354 Chances are you have the map sensor plugged into the TPS sensor, and vice versa. The plugs are exactly the same.

#182534 It sounds like your wiring is a mess. You need to get a voltmeter and verify every wire on the ecu harness.

Teal is absolutely correct. No reputable tuner would even touch the car until it is operating properly.

#184131 so my friends are lookin at the car for me right now and they have come across the fact that there is NO fuel filter its just aftermarket straight pipes for the fuel. so i was wondering if it could be running like shit because of this reason? would that make the tps and map sensor cel come on?
