#77561 ok now i know what im doing. im swapping my b18a1 into my car... i have the built head ready to roll. but i am sending to a local shop to be decked cleaned and put back together. so as far as im concerned the head is ready..
as for the block what should i do??? i am not going boost or ls vtec any time soon so dont give me those options.i am doing all motor thats it. will be more than enough for me to use as a daily. i was going to do 81.5mm pistons ctr i think is what they are. and i know they need to be notched to fit the ls rods. then just use all fresh new bearings and rings.and hone the block to fit pistons... i should be at 11.3:1 compression. at least that wat the machinest told me. then new timing belt, gsr oil pump and gsr water pump.and small stuff like thermostat and gaskets seals etc.put it all together. im running a ls tranny for now. i have it and dont wanna get a gsr or b16. like i said its a daily driver not a race car lol. so ill be happy with the ls. mabey change the final drive gear and call it a day. so the block... sound good??? any ideas like what pistons. and what hp should i expect from this??? ill work on upgrading the headers and intak man and stuff like that after its in. so i can see what each part i add does performance wise.. so any advice is welcome.

#77569 Well, you dont need to bore it at all. You can stick with a stock bottom end and be fine. If you do get the pistons. You will not want the CTR pistons. You want to get B16a pistons for that compression. You will be over 13:1 with CTR pistons.

#77574 ok. so the pistons come out of a new si civic corect??? because i got a good deal with the honda dealer my shop uses. 48 bucks a piston. so 4 pistons and rings from a us b16 out of 98-2000 si? there 81.5mm arnt they??? so just a small hone will work? and i was told i need to have the pistons notched to fit the ls rod is this right?

#77592 no, they are 81mm unless you get the oversized ones. You can just hone your cylinders if the walls are good. If so, just get the 81mm stock bore.

You can get the Pistons out of any USDM B16a.
